It all had to start somewhere
Senior Software Engineer
E*TRADE Financial
January, 2000 to February, 2010
I started my career at E*TRADE Financial immediately after graduation from the Univ. of Georgia. I worked my way from third shift customer service to
General Securities Principal (Series 24) in my first year. Within another
six months, I took a position as a Software Engineer which quickly became Senior Software Engineer responsible for all international retail software development
and quality assurance.
During my time at E*TRADE, I led the development of many ground breaking innovations such as custom and interactive user interfaces, rapid
trade execution, automated portfolio allocation, rapid page loading, standardized code libraries, and development process standards. My biggest achievement was
to implement code modularization in a MVC model to allow for the rapid cloning and deployment of the international franchise retail sites.
Serving my community
After leaving E*TRADE, I decided to serve my community as a Deputy Sheriff for the Walton County Sheriff's Office. The work at the
Sheriff's Office taught me invaluable lessons about the importance of detailed execution and rapid situational analysis. The most important thing I
learned during my time as a Deputy Sheriff was that a reliable and cohesive team can accomplish anything, even that which was thought impossible.
I graduated the Dekalb Technical College Law Enformcement P.O.S.T. Certification and received the Highest Academic Average Acheivement Award. I continued
to serve my community with my brothers and sisters in law enforcement until I was presented with an opportunity by the Coca-Cola Company.
Rapid Development & Deployment
Senior Software Engineer
The Coca-Cola Company
April, 2012 to August, 2017
Coca-Cola was starting a new in-house development studio in the spring of 2012 with the objective to reduce the time and cost of internal application
development as well as minimize the operation and maintence cost of these applications. I led the intiative with my colleague, developing a rapid prototyping
process based on standardized libraries and methods. The result was an 80% reduction in the development cycle time with an increase in product quality.
Maintence costs dropped to near zero as our code was built modular and flexible, anticipating the future changes to the infrastructure and accounting for those
possiblities in the initial build.
The success of these early initiatives allowed for the expansion of the team and additional opportunities for the junior developers to achieve lead positions
on other internal technologies. One of these opportunities was the emerging technology and automation initiative. I was invited to lead the proof of concept phase
of the robotic process automation which eventually resulted in the formationation of an official Center of Excellence for emerging technology.
Emerging Technology
AI Platform & Operations Lead
The Coca-Cola Company
August, 2017 to Present
Currently, I lead a team of people comprising platform administration, development, support and product management. My responsibilities include
establishing governance procedures, platform stability, quality and timely product
deliverables, effective issue resolution and implementation of emerging technology adaptation.
I architect, implement, and lead the enterprise wide platforms and operations for the Artificial Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation, and the Humanoid Robotics initiatives. In the
first year, these initiatives have delivered 28,000+ hours in time savings to the business.
